1997 Animation Best Collection
[GGG-022]

Overall rating: Very good. The Evangelion songs made the difference, that's for sure! Escaflowne songs were also an added plus!

1. Tamashii no Rufuran/ Evangelion Death and Rebirth An excellent Yohko Takahashi song. This is the theme for Evangelion Death and Rebirth and rightfully so. It has some of the classical choral music in the interludes with a very upbeat make-up. The bass likes to jump around in the chorus which is a stron contrast to its monotony in the verses....^^
2. kokoro yo___/ Evangelion Death and Rebirth The ssecond theme for D and R. Yet another Yohko Takahashi. It almost sounds like whale calls at certain points made by some horn instrument^^. But, it's a good song although the chorus is kind of annoying.
3. Zankoku na Tenshi no Teeze (Director's Edit Version)/ Evangelion This is sung by Megumi Hayashibara (Rei), Yuko Miyamura (Asuka), and Kotono Mitsuishi (Misato) and therefore makes it a very interesting find! They sing in parts, then join in the main chorus.
4. Fly me to the Moon (Main Version 2)/ Evangelion Again, sung in three parts and all Seiyuu pull off a beautiful harmony of which I have yet to master the alto part for... (soprano and sec. sop covered!^^). They talk in whispers during the interlude.
5. Must Be Something/ ?? Sung by Hitomi Konno in English. A slow yet pleasant song.
6. __ wa irainai/ Vision of Escaflowne OP theme. Not exactly my favorite, but tolerable -- and those bagpipes in the interlude will amuse me 'till the end!! ^__^
7. Pocket wo _ ni shite/ Vision of Escaflowne A relaxing listen and a decent song.
8. MYSTIC EYES/ Vision of Escaflowne Sung by Seki Tomokazu (Van Fanel). I enjoyed this song a lot.. even though my mother started dancing disco to it once...^^ Fast and difficult to sing if you're female^^ (goes to my bottom limit there...^_~)
9. ??/ Fushigi Yuugi OAV OP theme. It always seems to me, I like the ending themes for Fushigi Yuugi a LOT more than the opening ones. This is just the same... slow and boring to me.
10. ??/ Fushigi Yuugi OAV ED theme. As just mentioned, a better beat, a better singer, a more interesting melody. Just a better song!
11. Kaze no Naka de__ ite/ Gundam 08MS OAV Mmmm... catchy tune, mediochre music...
12. 10 Years After/ Gundam 08MS OAV The first few words make me think of alfalfa. An okay, tolerable song. Nothing really special.
13. _ dearu tameni/ You're Under Arrest TV Annoying male singer. Not that great a song.
14. Thank you, Love/ You're Under Arrest TV A slow, classical guitar-ish song with bongo drums. Makes me think of 'remembering something' or remiscing.
15. Ai no kimochi/ Tamagochi Somehow this kind of happy, cute song makes me feel ill...
16. Daikiku Naritai/ Tamagochi For some reason I always think of dish washing when I 'm listening to this. Perhaps it's the twanging sounds....
17. EVA D & R (Misato's monologue) The following are pretty self- explanitory and short enjoyable peices.
18. EAV D & R (Rei's monologue)
19. EVA D & R (Asuka's monologue)
